Private Maths Tutor in Tewkesbury

When a child starts to feel behind in maths, it can quickly affect how they feel about school as a whole. My aim is to change that feeling. In a one-to-one lesson there is no rush and no audience, so students can ask the questions they might not ask in a busy classroom. We find the ideas that aren't quite secure, rebuild them carefully, and then practise until the method feels natural.

Having led maths departments for many years, I understand what schools and examiners are looking for. I bring that knowledge into every lesson, so the time we spend together is focused on what will genuinely make a difference to your child's understanding and results.

I offer in-person lessons around Tewkesbury, and I also teach families in Cheltenham, Gloucester and the wider Gloucestershire area. If travelling or timings are tricky, online lessons on Microsoft Teams are a simple alternative. Many students enjoy learning from home, and we can still work through problems step by step together.

For younger students, my KS3 maths tutoring focuses on firm foundations, so the jump to GCSE is far less daunting. My GCSE maths tutoring helps students in Years 10 and 11 build exam technique and confidence, and many stay with me right through to their exams. For sixth formers, my A-Level maths tutoring covers pure, mechanics and statistics in real depth.

Lessons are £45 per hour for KS3, £55 for GCSE and £65 for A-Level.

I have an M.Sc and a B.Sc in Mathematics and a PGCE, and I've taught in UK secondary schools and in India. I've worked as a Director of Mathematics and as an Assistant Head of Mathematics, and I've mentored trainee teachers and Early Career Teachers along the way.
