KS3 Maths Tutor (Years 7 to 9) in Cheltenham & Tewkesbury

KS3 is where the building blocks of secondary maths are laid: working confidently with number, starting algebra, and understanding shapes, angles and measures. When one of those blocks is shaky, later topics become harder, and students can start to believe they are "bad at maths" when really they have just missed a step.

Having taught and led maths from Year 7 to Year 13, I can see how each KS3 topic connects to what comes later at GCSE. That helps me prioritise the ideas that will matter most.

In our lessons, we fill gaps calmly and early. I explain ideas from different angles until they make sense, then we practise so the method becomes second nature. The aim is for number, algebra and geometry to feel familiar rather than frightening, so that when your child starts GCSE maths in Year 10, they begin from a place of confidence.

Some students come to me because they are struggling, others because they are capable and want more challenge. Both are welcome, and each lesson is shaped around what your child needs.

Younger students often hold back in class, worried about getting something wrong in front of their friends. One-to-one lessons remove that pressure. Questions are always welcome, and mistakes are simply part of learning. Over time, I see students go from hesitant to keen to have a go.

I'm a former Director of Mathematics with an M.Sc and B.Sc in Mathematics and a PGCE, and I've spent over 25 years helping young people enjoy maths.

I teach in person around Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucestershire, or online on Microsoft Teams. KS3 lessons are £45 per hour, weekly or fortnightly, with the same price for online and in person.
