GCSE Maths Tutor in Cheltenham & Tewkesbury

By Year 10, many students have a few topics they quietly avoid. Perhaps algebra never quite made sense, or fractions and percentages still cause a moment of panic. In a one-to-one lesson, we can find those gaps and close them properly, without embarrassment and without rushing on before the idea is secure.

Confidence grows from understanding. When a student can see why a method works, they remember it for longer and can adapt it when an exam question looks unfamiliar. That is what I aim for in every GCSE lesson.

Understanding the maths is only part of the picture. Students also need to read questions carefully, show their working clearly and manage their time. As a former Director of Mathematics, I know what examiners are looking for and how marks are awarded, so we practise exam-style questions properly and learn from every attempt.

I tutor both Foundation and Higher tier, and I tailor each lesson to your child's target and the topics that are costing them the most marks.

Many of my GCSE students start in Year 10 and stay with me right through to their exams in Year 11. That steady, two-year approach means we can cover the whole course calmly, revisit tricky topics more than once, and build towards the exams rather than cramming at the last minute.

For GCSE students, I recommend weekly lessons. A regular rhythm keeps skills fresh and gives your child a reliable place to bring questions from school each week. Fortnightly lessons are available too if that suits your family better.

I teach in person around Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucestershire, and online on Microsoft Teams. GCSE maths lessons are £55 per hour, with no difference in price between online and in person.
