Every student I meet is different. Some are quietly capable but have lost their confidence after a difficult test. Others have missed a key idea somewhere along the way and find each new topic harder than the last. A few are already doing well and want to push for the very top grades. Whatever the starting point, a one-to-one lesson gives us the time to slow down, listen, and work out exactly where the gaps are.

After many years leading maths in secondary schools, I know how the curriculum fits together from Year 7 all the way to Year 13. That means I can spot when a GCSE struggle is really a KS3 gap, or when an A-Level topic needs a firmer grip on algebra first. We fix the root cause, not just the question in front of us.

Many Cheltenham families like the focus of an in-person lesson, with a pencil, paper and someone sitting alongside. Others prefer the flexibility of learning at home on Microsoft Teams, which works just as well for explaining methods and working through exam questions together. You can choose whichever suits your child and your week, and the price is the same either way.

Most students have a weekly lesson, which keeps momentum going and gives us a steady rhythm of practice and feedback. Fortnightly lessons are also available if that fits better around school and other commitments.

At KS3, I help students in Years 7 to 9 build strong foundations in number, algebra and geometry, so that GCSE feels familiar rather than frightening. For GCSE maths, we work through the topics that cost marks and practise exam-style questions properly, for both Foundation and Higher tier. At A-Level, we go into real depth across pure, mechanics and statistics.

Lessons are £45 per hour for KS3, £55 per hour for GCSE and £65 per hour for A-Level.

I hold an M.Sc and a B.Sc in Mathematics and I'm PGCE qualified. Beyond the qualifications, I've spent years as a Director of Mathematics and Assistant Head of Mathematics, and I've mentored trainee teachers and Early Career Teachers. I know what examiners and schools expect, and I know how to explain one idea in several different ways until it finally clicks.

Above all, I want lessons to feel calm and encouraging. Questions are always welcome, mistakes are part of learning, and every student is taught the way they learn best.
