A-Level Maths Tutor in Cheltenham & Tewkesbury

Many students who did well at GCSE are surprised by how quickly A-Level moves. The algebra is heavier, the problems are longer, and there is less repetition in class. Early in Year 12 is the ideal time to strengthen those foundations, so that each new topic builds on something solid.

In our lessons, I help students tidy up the skills that A-Level relies on and learn to approach unfamiliar problems with a clear plan. It is often the difference between feeling lost and feeling in control.

I teach across the full A-Level course: pure maths, mechanics and statistics. We spend time on the reasoning behind each method, then practise exam-style questions so your child can apply that understanding under pressure. After many years leading maths departments, I know what examiners expect and where marks are commonly lost.

Whether your child is aiming for a top grade, preparing for a maths-heavy university course, or simply wants to feel less anxious in lessons, I shape each session around their goals.

I'm genuinely passionate about encouraging young women to carry on with maths and take it at A-Level. Too many capable girls decide maths is "not for them" long before they have had the chance to see what they can do. I want every student to leave our lessons believing that they belong in the subject.

I hold an M.Sc and a B.Sc in Mathematics and a PGCE, and I'm a former Director of Mathematics. I offer lessons in person around Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, or online on Microsoft Teams. A-Level lessons are £65 per hour, weekly or fortnightly.
